The Burning Blog is a collation of previous blogs from sub-sections of the main Burning Man site. I designed and implemented a custom Wordpress theme for this blog. I integrated some subtle design and layout changes to differ it from the look and feel of the main Burning Man site, allowing the main content to breathe and increasing readability.
I implemented a few subtle design changes to separate the blog from the look and feel of the main site. I changed the body font for increased readability. I added more white space to define main content areas and let the content breathe, and created a unique color scheme of smoke and gray tones not used by other sections of the site. Retaining the iconic flame motifs from the rest of the site, I used small flames in the side bar and button graphics.
The blog successfully repeats the major design elements of the new site while feeling like a distinct entity. Repeating the visual language is key to consistency and authenticity of voice.
