Photo Buttons

I created these buttons as a way to connect with friends and family back in Vancouver. I wanted them to see what I had been looking at over the first year that I lived in San Francisco.

 

 

I used photos from three trips to four towns/cities over a summer and fall period: Burning Man, Seattle, Gerlach and San Francisco. Events, locations and things that I photographed were the Day of the Dead, the Seattle Public Library, type from signs and exhibitions, a photo of a button and beetle romance, dust storms and pixelated analog things. In each set that I gave out were also buttons I made with ephemera from bus and subway tickets. Each set was a little microcosm of experiences and places, wearable snapshots of my life.
